Fifteen

Jennifer Brookes: These photos were taken from the Space Needle’s observation deck, 520 feet above the city, on Christmas day. If things went according to plan, I would be back home in Colorado on this day, surrounded by familiar people. Since things very rarely go according to plan, I instead spent the day as far away from the city as manageable, surrounded by people completely unfamiliar to me (except for one good friend, whose company I am grateful for). Maybe it was seeing the sun set without any cloud cover, or the city lighting up at night twice as bright as normal, covered in Christmas lights, but it didn’t turn out to be the lonesome holiday that I expected. There’s something special about sharing an experience with the strangers of your city; it profoundly alters your perspective. This is my home.

Eric Peterson: Remember when I told you about how I “grew up” with early 2000s post-rock? Well, the other half of that coin is that I grew up on early ’90s shoegaze, though obviously not during its initial run. Honestly I’m surprised so little electric guitar has shown up so far in this project. This week is a collage of five different guitars running through various delay, reverb, tremolo, and overdrive effects. Maybe a bit of an homage to Kevin Shields, and, if you listen closely, a completely unintentional nod to Pachebel. Whoops.
